A Rising Storm 2: Vietnam server on 2hours.gg is a real dedicated server: the map, mode and slots you pick are set when it boots, and it keeps running while people come and go. This guide covers getting your friends in, keeping it private and running it.
Pick slots, mode and map
- Slots: Small is 16, Medium 32, Large 64. Pick for the group you expect, empty slots do nothing for you.
- Mode: Territories (attack and defend objectives in order) or Supremacy (hold more points than the other team).
- Map: the starting map. You can change it later from WebAdmin.
How friends join
The fastest way is the console. Press ~ in game, paste the line from your server card and press Enter:
open 203.0.113.10:7777
With a password, the line becomes:
open 203.0.113.10:7777?Password=yourpassword
You can also find the server by name in the in-game server browser. RS2 splits the list by size: a 16-slot server is under the Small Scale tab, not the default one. The name starts with 2hours.gg unless you changed it.
If ~ does nothing, turn the console on first in Settings, Playerview and HUD, Enable developer console. More on the RS2 console.
Keep it private
Every server is listed in the in-game browser, so anyone can see it. Set a join password on the deploy form and only the people you give it to can get in. Leave it empty for an open server.
Run it from WebAdmin
Your server comes with the RS2 WebAdmin panel. Open the link on your server card (http://IP:8080/ServerAdmin/) and sign in as Admin with the admin password shown there. From the panel you can change the map, kick or ban players, send chat messages and see who is on.
Bots are optional
Tripwire turned bots off on RS2 dedicated servers. The AI bots switch on the deploy form adds them back with a community mod, up to half the slots. The catch: the server is then listed as unranked, nobody earns XP, and bots do not leave when players join. Leave it off for a normal ranked server.
Play a Workshop map
Paste a Steam Workshop map id on the deploy form and the server downloads it and starts on it. If a player cannot load it, they subscribe to the map on Steam first. If the id is wrong or the item is not a map, the server starts on the official map you picked instead.
When your time runs out
Your paid time starts when the first player joins. You can extend it from the server card while it runs. When it ends the server shuts down; RS2 has no world or progress to keep, the next server starts fresh.
