Rising Storm 2: Vietnam runs on Unreal Engine, not the Source engine, so joining a server by IP works differently from Counter-Strike or other Source games. The console key is ~ (tilde), and the connect command is open, not connect. This guide shows the exact steps.
Step 1: open the console
First turn the console on: Settings > Playerview & HUD, tick Enable developer console. Then press ~ (tilde) to open it. F3 opens a one-line console that also accepts the open command.
Step 2: connect to a server by IP
With the console open, type open followed by the server IP and the game port, then press Enter:
open 203.0.113.10:7777
Use open, not connect. connect is a Source-engine command and does nothing in RS2. Use the game port (7777 by default), not the query port.
Joining a password-protected server
RS2 passes the password as an Unreal URL option on the same line:
open 203.0.113.10:7777?Password=YOURPASSWORD
Or use the server browser
You can also find a server in the in-game browser: Multiplayer > Server Browser, then search by name. Direct connect with open is faster and more reliable when you already know the IP, and it is the only way to reach a server that is not listed.
If it will not connect
- Wrong command: it is open, not connect.
- Wrong port: connect to the game port (7777), not the query port (7779).
- Version mismatch: the client and server must be on the same game build. If Steam has an RS2 update pending, install it first.
Need a server to connect to?
On 2hours.gg a Rising Storm 2: Vietnam server comes ready to join: map, mode and config are already set. You deploy, get an IP, and paste it after open. No setup on the server side. Deploy a Rising Storm 2 server.
