Killing Floor 2 server admin: WebAdmin and commands

Killing Floor 2 has no in-game RCON console like the Source games. You manage your server from a browser: the built-in WebAdmin panel, or the web console on your server card. You deployed the server, so you are the admin.

How friends join

KF2 has no in-game host (the menu Create Match just searches for an open server and often fails), so a dedicated server is the way to play together. Friends join from the game console:

  • open IP:7777 joins a server with no password.
  • open IP:7777?Password=yourpass joins a private (password) server. Set a Game password on deploy to keep it friends-only.

Open the console in game with the tilde (~) key. The exact connect line for your server is on the server card.

The WebAdmin panel

Every 2hours.gg KF2 server has WebAdmin turned on (KF2 ships it off). It is a browser panel at http://YOUR-IP:8080/. Log in with the user Admin and the admin password you set on deploy. From there you can:

  • change the map, game mode, difficulty and length while the server runs.
  • see who is connected, kick or ban players, and send chat as the admin.
  • tweak server settings without editing config files.

The web console on your server card

Your server card has a console that talks to WebAdmin for you, so you do not have to open the panel. Use it to change the map or mode and manage players from the same page you deployed on.

Perk XP and ranked servers

Perk XP (leveling your Berserker, Commando, Field Medic and the rest) only counts on a ranked, vanilla server. A 6-player server is ranked. The 12 and 24 player tiers use mutators to raise the cap, which makes the server unranked, so players earn no perk XP there. Your levels are stored on your Steam account, not on our server, so nothing you already earned is ever lost.
