Quake II server commands: maps, limits, kick and ban

Your server has a web console on 2hours.gg that sends these commands for you. In game, log in once with the rcon password from your server card, then put rcon in front of each command.

Maps

  • gamemap q2dm1: change map in deathmatch or CTF. Everyone stays connected and the scores reset.
  • map base2: co-op only. Restarts the campaign from that unit.
  • sv_maplist: type it alone to see the rotation the server follows when a limit is reached. It is set when you deploy, starting from the map you picked.

Limits and rules

  • fraglimit 30, timelimit 15: deathmatch limits. 0 turns a limit off.
  • capturelimit 8: captures to win a CTF map.
  • dmflags: the deathmatch rule switches (weapons stay, falling damage, and so on) as one number. Type it alone to see the current value.

Players

  • status: everyone connected, with their slot number in the first column and their ping.
  • kick 3: kick the player in slot 3. Use the number, not the name.
  • sv addip 203.0.113.9: ban an address. sv listip lists the bans and sv removeip lifts one.
  • say hello: message everyone.

What you cannot change live

  • The mode (deathmatch, CTF or co-op) and the player slots are set when you deploy. To switch mode, deploy a new server.
  • Change the join password with Edit password on your server card, so the card and its connect line stay in step.
  • Quake II has no bots, so there are no bot commands.
