Fistful of Frags game modes: Deathmatch, Team Play and horse riding maps

In Fistful of Frags the game rules are set by the fof_sv_currentmode cvar (1 Shootout, 2 Teamplay, 3 Break Bad, and more), and each mode has its own map family. On the deploy page you pick a map set and the server rotates through it. The server does not set fof_sv_currentmode for you yet. Here is what each option is.

The modes

  • Deathmatch: Free for all. Everyone against everyone, most kills wins. The fastest, most chaotic way to play, and the best pick for a quick session or an odd number of players.
  • Team Play: Two teams play for objectives on the tp_ maps, such as capturing zones or pushing a cart. It suits an even group who want more structure than a free for all. Teamplay rules need fof_sv_currentmode 2, so set it in the web console if the round does not play as Teamplay.
  • Horseback maps: The fofhr_ maps, where you can ride horses. This option loads the horse riding map set. A good change of pace once the group knows the guns.
A snowy mining camp with two players in the distance and red and blue team score bars at the top of the screen.
A Team Play round. The red and blue bars at the top track each team's score.

Choosing the mode on your server

  • Pick the mode when you deploy. That sets the map rotation for the whole session.
  • To switch mid-session, set fof_sv_currentmode to the mode you want, then change to a map from that family with changelevel, over the web console or rcon.
