Most CS2 practice maps (Aim Botz, Yprac Hub, the prefire maps) are built for one player. To learn smokes, flashes and executes as a team, you need a server where everyone can throw, respawn and replay grenades at the same time. Every private CS2 server on 2hours.gg ships MatchZy, which has a practice mode for the whole group: one chat command turns the match into a practice session.
Start practice mode
- Deploy a CS2 server on an official map, for example Mirage or Inferno. Practice mode is part of MatchZy, which runs in Competitive on the official maps, not on Workshop maps.
- Join, then share the join link so your friends join too.
- The server owner types
.pracin chat. The account that deployed the server is a MatchZy admin, so this works right away. - When you are done, type
.exitpracto go back to a normal match on the same server.
What .prac turns on
These are the settings we read back from a server after typing .prac:
- Infinite ammo and a full grenade kit for both sides, with $9,999,999 and buying anywhere.
- A preview of where your grenade will land, plus a trail after the throw.
- Respawn on death for both teams, 60 minute rounds and no freeze time.
- Everyone hears everyone, dead players included, and teams have no size limit.
- Bullet impacts are shown, which helps with prefire angles.
The commands you will use
Type these in chat once practice mode is on.
Grenades
.rethrow: throws your last grenade again, from the same spot, so you can watch where it lands..last: takes you back to where you threw your last grenade..savenade <name>: saves your last throw as a named lineup..loadnade <name>: puts you on a saved lineup..listnades: lists the saved lineups..clear: removes smokes and fires that are still burning..fastforward: skips ahead so smokes and fires run out faster..noflash: stops your own flashes from blinding you while you learn them.
Positions and bots
.spawn <n>: moves you to competitive spawn number n, so everyone starts executes from the real spawns..ctspawn <n> / .tspawn <n>: the same, for a given side..bot: places a bot where you stand, to check whether a smoke really blocks the view..crouchbot: the same, crouching..boost: places a bot to jump on, for boost spots..nobots: removes the bots..timer: times a run, for example how long a rotation takes.
A 30 minute session for a team
- Pick one map and one site. Each player owns the grenades for their role.
- Everyone learns their throws with .rethrow, then saves them with .savenade so the lineup is not lost.
- Run the execute together from .spawn positions, type .clear, and repeat until the timing is right.
- Type .exitprac and play a match on the same server to test it for real.
Warm up alone first: the best solo practice maps
These Workshop maps are the most used and best rated for each skill, by Steam subscribers, likes and recent updates. They are built for one player, so use them before the team session, not instead of it. Each card opens the map on your own server in Casual.
For the console commands and a practice config you can paste on any server, see the CS2 practice server guide.
